Connie Inukai retired from teaching Technical Writing at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. Since then, she has reinvented herself as an inventor and entrepreneur, learning firsthand the necessary steps. “I had never thought of myself as an inventor, and I had no clue how to proceed, but after four decades as a university instructor, I put away my teaching materials and learned how to get a patent, manufacture a product, and market it.” To test the product, she took Tip ‘n Split®, to INPEX, trade show for new products, and was awarded the Gold Medal for “Best New Gadget!” This led to getting “discovered” and featured on QVC, a shop-at-home TV network. Her first invention is Tip 'n Split, a handheld LED magnifier that helps restaurant patrons read the small print on menus/bills, especially in dark restaurants. Connie is an example that it is never too late to follow your dreams.
Connie graduated from Columbia University with an M.A. in Linguistics.
She earned her B.A. in French from The Ohio State University.
